It was a crisp spring morning in Lincoln, Nebraska, as The Veteran strode into the American Legion office. The Veteran carried a sense of purpose and a deep commitment to the community, especially the veterans and youth that the Legion programs were meant to support. However, The Veteran couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.

For years, whispers of financial discrepancies had haunted the American Legion Post, particularly surrounding its prized baseball program. It was meant to be a beacon of opportunity for young athletes, a program that promoted equality, sportsmanship, and leadership. But now, those ideals seemed distant as questions mounted: Where was the money? Why had tax filings ceased? Why had donors' contributions and player fees vanished without a trace?

The deeper The Veteran dug, the murkier the situation became. Records were scarce, access was denied, and those in charge dismissed inquiries. Gate fees from games, donations from sponsors, and money raised by players seemed to disappear into thin air, with no documentation to show where it had gone. Even as The Veteran poured overestimates, the numbers became overwhelming. Millions of dollars unaccounted for, programs left underfunded, and a community betrayed.

The Veteran faced resistance at every turn. Long-serving officers refused to share financials, claiming insolvency as an excuse to cut funding for the baseball program. Yet, the numbers told a different story: the Post itself was not insolvent, but the funds meant for baseball were nowhere to be found.

Parents hesitated to speak out for fear of retaliation against their players, while local authorities brushed off accusations of fraud and exploitation. The Veteran knew the grifting needed to end, but how could The Veteran make the truth come to light when every avenue seemed blocked?

It was time to rally the community. Welcome to Stop the Take!
